Nauticam NA-Shinobi II Underwater Housing

For the Atomos Shinobi II 5.2" Monitor (HDMI 1.4)

The NA-Shinobi II brings Atomos' bright 5" HDR monitor underwater, so you can judge focus, exposure and composition on a large, clear screen instead of the camera's built-in LCD. It connects to a supported camera housing through Nauticam's HDMI cable-and-bulkhead system, and ships with vacuum and leak monitoring as standard.

Consider the NA-Shinobi II if you:

  • Want a large, bright 1500-nit 10-bit HDR monitor underwater for critical focus and exposure
  • Shoot HDMI 1.4 output and want focus peaking, false colour, Analysis Mode and Live LUT preview on the screen
  • Run a camera housing that supports Nauticam's HDMI bulkhead system
  • Want reliable safety monitoring on the monitor housing itself

The Housing

The monitor: Atomos Shinobi II

The Atomos Shinobi II is a compact 5" 1500-nit 10-bit HDR monitor with a full suite of advanced focus and exposure tools, powered by Sony FP-series batteries. The NA-Shinobi II housing integrates it seamlessly into your underwater system so you can take advantage of those tools while you shoot.

Controls and toolset

The monitor's overlays and visualisations are activated via buttons on the face of the housing, including the powerful Analysis Mode that places the most-used exposure tools alongside the footage. Aspect-ratio overlays, focus peaking and false colour are all available, and LUTs can be uploaded to the monitor for Live LUT preview of the footage with the look applied.

HDMI connectivity

The NA-Shinobi II comes with the outgoing watertight standard HDMI bulkhead and cable pre-installed, plus the additional M16 HDMI bulkhead that affixes to the supported camera housing. A 200mm HDMI (D-A) cable is included to connect the M16 bulkhead to the camera inside the camera housing.

Vacuum check and leak detection — standard

Nauticam's vacuum check and leak detection electronics ship with the NA-Shinobi II as standard, with the M16 Vacuum Valve II (25625) pre-installed to complete the system. It continuously reports the housing's watertight, safe-to-dive status through a color-coded LED: solid vacuum, or vacuum loss. Leak detection runs on the same circuit, so any water intrusion triggers an audible and visual alarm.

The system is temperature-compensated, so it won't throw false alarms from a change in water temperature or from electronics heating up on an action-packed dive.
