Nauticam Housing for the Insta360 X5

360° underwater housing, depth-rated to 150m

The Nauticam Housing for the Insta360 X5 takes the leading 360° action camera deep — a hard-anodised aluminium body rated to 150m with purpose-built corrective optics for each lens, replacing the camera's shallow 49ft limit and stock lenses with a true underwater system. It keeps operation simple: drop the camera in, remove the original outer lenses, close the back, and the X5 automatically switches to dive mode.

Consider this housing if you:

  • Shoot 360° underwater and want a metal housing rated to 150m rather than the camera's 49ft limit
  • Want the X5's 8K30 360° capture and 72MP photos behind purpose-built corrective optics
  • Want simple operation — automatic dive mode, plus ergonomic power and quick buttons
  • Want a compact rig that mounts to float sticks and standard 1/4"-20 / M5 points

The Camera: Insta360 X5

New to the X5? Here's the context. Already know it well — skip to the housing below.

The Insta360 X5 refines the 360° formula with a robust IP68 body, dual 1/1.28" sensors and a new triple-AI chip pipeline that markedly improves low-light performance. PureVideo mode delivers cleaner footage with better noise reduction and highlight protection in dark conditions, while 8K/30fps 360° capture stays reliable with richer colour. The user-replaceable lens design, the "shoot first, frame later" workflow with InstaFrame, and FlowState stabilisation with the invisible selfie stick make it the most refined 360 camera to date — and a 2400mAh battery gives over three hours at 5.7K.

Key camera specifications

  • 2400mAh battery — over 3 hours at 5.7K; 80% charge in ~20 min

The Housing

Premium corrective optics

The housing is built from hard-anodised aluminium alloy with a 150m depth rating. Each lens is a purpose-built corrective optic with a 190° angle of view, made of three elements in two groups, anti-reflection coated, with a working distance from 0 to infinity. To use the housing, the X5's original outer lenses (one each side) are removed with the included tool, so the housing's optics take over underwater.

Simple, ergonomic operation

Like all Nauticam housings, it features user-friendly ergonomic controls: a rotary housing lock, a red push button for power and a blue push button for the quick button. Once the back door is closed, the camera automatically activates dive mode inside the housing. Mounting is via 1× 1/4"-20 threaded hole and 2× M5 threaded holes.
