Nauticam Super Macro Converter 3 (SMC-3, 2.3x)
The SMC-3 is a re-engineered, lightweight successor to the acclaimed SMC-1, weighing just two-thirds as much (307g in air, 215g in water) while preserving the optical performance the SMC series is known for. Paired with a full-frame camera and a 100mm or 105mm macro lens it delivers up to 2.4x magnification (lens dependent), with a generous 51-103mm working distance that makes it easier to use and ideal for skittish subjects. It uses a 3-element, 2-group design with anti-reflection coatings, an M67 thread mount, and is depth rated to 100 metres.
Worth noting: the redesigned optics offer a greater working distance than earlier SMC lenses, and the SMC-3 is priced slightly below the discontinued SMC-1.
