The Camera: Canon EOS R6 Mark II

The Canon EOS R6 Mark II is a fast, full-frame hybrid that's well suited to underwater work. Its all-new 24.2MP CMOS sensor lifts resolution over the original R6 and significantly improves rolling-shutter performance, while in-body image stabilization rated up to 8 stops helps in the kind of low-light, handheld conditions divers often face.
Autofocus comes from Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, with 1053 AF points covering the full frame. On the video side, it records 4K up to 60p internally and 6K up to 60p externally. The RF mount keeps the 54mm diameter of the EF mount but positions larger rear elements closer to the sensor, improving sharpness toward the corners and edges, and EF lenses remain usable through Canon's RF-to-EOS R adapter.

The Housing
Lens compatibility and the N120 port system
The NA-R6II is built into Nauticam's N120 port system so you can run both native RF optics and legacy EF lenses. Fit Canon's EF-to-RF adapter to the camera before inserting it into the housing, and your port and extension-ring setup will match the existing Nauticam Canon N120 DSLR arrangement. The dedicated N120 Canon RF port chart is updated and expanded with each new RF lens release.
Worth noting: the Canon Control Ring and Drop-in Filter EF-to-EOS R adapters are not accessible from inside this housing. If control-ring or drop-in filter access is essential to your workflow, factor that into your decision.
Mission Control: every control within reach
Nauticam's Mission Control philosophy is about putting the underwater image maker in unfettered command of the camera, with as many controls as possible falling naturally under the ergonomic rubberized handles.
By the right handle, a dual thumb lever and a sub-lever cover the most-used functions: the dual thumb lever on the front-right side fires M-Fn and Rec, while the sub-lever on the rear-right side handles AF-On. Near the left handle, a thumb lever controls Playback for easy image review.
Large knurled, rubberized dials operate the camera's main and sub command dials, and a two-stage trigger gives you smooth, separate control over focus and firing. Additional buttons — Menu, Focus Point Selection and others — remain within easy reach of the handles.
Flash triggering
Trigger strobes through the built-in fiber-optic bulkheads using one of two optional triggers: a manual LED trigger (PN 26305) or a TTL flash trigger (PN 26321 — currently unavailable), paired with optional fiber-optic cables. For strobes that don't support fiber-optic triggering, a range of legacy hot-shoe flash control bulkheads is available.
Vacuum check and leak detection — standard
Nauticam's vacuum check and leak detection electronics ship with the NA-R6II as standard. Combined with the optional 25625 M16 Vacuum Valve II, the system continuously reports the housing's watertight, safe-to-dive status through a color-coded LED: solid vacuum, or vacuum loss. Leak detection runs on the same circuit, so any water intrusion triggers an audible and visual alarm.
The system is temperature-compensated, so it won't throw false alarms from a change in water temperature or from the camera heating up on an action-packed dive.
