Nauticam NA-S5II Underwater Housing
For the Panasonic Lumix S5II / S5IIX
The NA-S5II brings Panasonic's value-packed full-frame hybrid underwater — a 24MP sensor with dual native ISO, class-leading stabilisation and a built-in cooling fan for long video takes. Built on Nauticam's N120 port system, it runs native L-mount glass (and adapted Canon/Sigma EF lenses), adds a one-hand rotary housing lock, and ships with vacuum and leak monitoring as standard.
Consider the NA-S5II if you:
- Want strong-value full-frame stills and video — 24MP, dual native ISO, superb in-body stabilisation
- Shoot long video takes and want the camera's built-in cooling fan (unlimited 4K internal)
- Run native L-mount glass, or adapt Canon/Sigma EF lenses via the Sigma MC-21
- Want a compact rig with a one-hand rotary lock and reliable safety monitoring

The Camera: Panasonic Lumix S5II / S5IIX
New to the S5II? Here's the context. Already know it well — skip to the housing below.
The Lumix S5II delivers remarkable value: a feature-rich, full-frame platform in a compact body. A 24.2MP sensor (no low-pass filter) pairs with Dual Native ISO for cleaner high-ISO performance, while Panasonic's in-body stabilisation makes handheld video exceptionally smooth. A built-in cooling fan removes the overheating limits seen on rival hybrids — allowing unlimited 4K internal recording in 10-bit — and the much-improved phase-hybrid AF is a big step forward. The S5IIX adds HDMI ProRes RAW / ProRes 422 output and direct-to-SSD recording via USB-C at up to 800Mbps.

The Housing
Lens compatibility and the N120 port system
The NA-S5II is built on Nauticam's N120 port system. Native L-mount lenses are supported directly, and Sigma's MC-21 EF-to-L adapter lets you use Canon and Sigma EF-mount lenses — the housing is designed to work with the existing focus and zoom gears, extension rings and port combinations from the Nauticam Canon N120 system for those lenses. As more L-mount lenses suited to underwater use appear, they'll be added to the system; check the port chart for full compatibility.
Worth noting: the NA-S5II uses the rotary housing lock now standard on Nauticam's more compact mirrorless housings, so you can open and close the housing with one hand.
Mission Control: every control within reach
Nauticam's Mission Control philosophy places essential controls where they're needed — close to the handles and within natural reach — so you can stay on composition and timing without taking your eye off the EVF or LCD. A thumb lever on the right rear comfortably reaches AF-On without letting go of the handle, an additional rear lever switches focus mode between C / S / MF, and a multi-directional pad navigates menus and moves focus points.
Flash triggering
For rapid-fire manual flash triggering, the NA-S5II works with the Mini Flash Trigger (26305), which uses small LEDs to fire external strobes through Nauticam Universal Fiber Optic Cables (26216).
Worth noting: the Panasonic DMW-FL70 flash is not supported within the housing.
Vacuum check and leak detection — standard
Nauticam's vacuum check and leak detection electronics ship with the NA-S5II as standard. Combined with the optional 25624 M14 Vacuum Valve II, the system continuously reports the housing's watertight, safe-to-dive status through a color-coded LED: solid vacuum, or vacuum loss. Leak detection runs on the same circuit, so any water intrusion triggers an audible and visual alarm.
The system is temperature-compensated, so it won't throw false alarms from a change in water temperature or from the camera heating up on an action-packed dive.
