Nauticam NA-Ninja V Underwater Housing

For the Atomos Ninja V / V+ / Ninja Ultra 5" Recorder/Monitor

The NA-Ninja V brings Atomos' acclaimed monitor-recorder underwater, adding a bright 5.2" HDR screen and 4K ProRes/DNxHR recording to a supported camera system over HDMI 2.0. The monitor drops straight in, locks with two levers, and the housing ships with vacuum and leak monitoring as standard. HDMI cables are sold separately.

The Housing

The monitor-recorder: Atomos Ninja V

The Atomos Ninja V is a bright 1000-nit 10-bit HDR 5.2" monitor that can display over 10 stops of dynamic range with compatible cameras, with a full suite of exposure and focus tools. It's also a recorder: over HDMI 2.0 it captures 4K 60p in 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes or DNxHR to AtomX SSDmini drives (the Ninja V+ adds up to 4K 120p and 8K 30p ProRes RAW). A 1TB SSDmini holds roughly 150 minutes of 4K.

Exposure and focus tools

Exposure guides include a waveform for luminance, RGB parade for colour balance and a vector scope for hue and saturation — fast, accurate judging of exposure even in difficult light, with Rec.709 or HLG monitoring when shooting Log or HDR. Critical focus is handled by peaking tools: Focus Peaking Colour, Focus Peaking Mono, and a Focus Assist Outline on a black background.

Connectivity and controls

The NA-Ninja V is built around the M28 large-bore bulkhead supporting HDMI 2.0, with dual M28 bulkheads for both input and output — so a second cable can run to another monitor, with cube-format 3D LUTs applied to the output. An HDMI 1.4 option is also available. The monitor drops in without trays and is held by two rotating locking levers; touchscreen functions are mirrored by buttons and a selector knob beneath the screen — PLAY, REC, MON, RGB, PEAK and a multi-selector lever. The housing takes up to an NP-F970 battery for about two hours of run time.

Vacuum check and leak detection — standard

A CR-2032 powers Nauticam's vacuum check and leak detection system; with the included M16 Vacuum Valve II (25625), a multi-colour LED on top of the housing gives real-time feedback on watertight integrity. Leak detection runs on the same circuit, triggering an audible and visual alarm on any water intrusion, and the system is temperature-compensated against false alarms.
