Nauticam NA-R5C Underwater Housing
For the Canon EOS R5 C
The NA-R5C brings one of the most versatile hybrid cameras ever made into the water. The Canon EOS R5 C shoots internal 8K 60p cinema and 45MP stills, and Nauticam's housing is engineered to let you exploit both without compromise — full lens flexibility, every essential control under your fingers, and vacuum and leak monitoring built in as standard.
Consider the NA-R5C if you:
- Want a single rig that covers high-end underwater video and professional stills
- Shoot a mix of native RF optics and legacy EF glass (supported via Canon's adapters)
- Need reliable safety monitoring for demanding dives
- Are building toward an 8K cinema workflow that requires external power

The Camera: Canon EOS R5 C
New to the R5 C? Here's the context. Already know it well — skip to the housing below.
The Canon EOS R5 C is a hybrid full-frame mirrorless camera that genuinely bridges cinema and stills in one body. Flip a switch and it transforms from a professional cine camera into a stills camera that shares the same core specs as the Canon R5.
It pairs a 45MP full-frame CMOS sensor with Canon's Dual Pixel Autofocus, records internal 8K 60p in Cinema RAW Light, and captures 4K 120p in 4:2:2 10-bit with no sensor crop. The RF mount keeps the 54mm diameter of the EF mount but positions larger rear elements closer to the sensor, improving sharpness toward the corners and edges. EF lenses remain fully usable through one of three Canon adapters — a simple EF-to-R adapter, one supporting the customizable control ring, and one with a drop-in filter mount.

The Housing
Lens compatibility and the N120 port system
The NA-R5C is built into Nauticam's N120 port system so you can run both native RF optics and legacy EF lenses. Fit Canon's EF-to-RF adapter to the camera before inserting it into the housing, and your port and extension-ring setup will match the existing Nauticam Canon N120 Cinema EF Mount Port Chart. As the RF lineup grows, more dedicated RF port and extension combinations are added to the Port Chart.
Two lens-release buttons sit on the front of the housing — one for RF lenses and one for EF lenses on the Canon adapter — so swapping glass through the port opening stays simple.
Mission Control: every control within reach
Nauticam's Mission Control philosophy is about putting the underwater image maker in unfettered command of the camera, with as many controls as possible falling naturally under the ergonomic rubberized handles.
By the right handle, a dual thumb lever and dual sub-lever handle the most-used functions: the upper thumb lever fires AF-On, the lower covers Menu / Q, and the sub-lever drives M-Fn and Record. Near the left handle, a thumb lever controls Playback alongside a dedicated switch to toggle between the LCD and the EVF.
Large knurled, rubberized dials operate the camera's main and sub command dials, and a two-stage trigger gives you smooth, separate control over focus and firing. Additional buttons — Menu, Focus Point Selection and others — remain within easy reach of the handles.
For shooters using the Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, the optional 16703 Control Kit adds access to both the Canon Control Ring and the drop-in filter mount from the top-left ADAP FN knob.
External power for 8K recording
Internal 8K 60p Cinema RAW Light recording draws more power than the camera battery alone can sustain, so the housing includes space at its base for a USB-C power bank. Two confirmed-compatible options (with more to come):
- Anker PowerCore III 19,200mAh, 45W Power Delivery (169 × 79 × 22.4 mm)
- ZMI 20,000mAh, 65W PD battery (160.4 × 81.8 × 21.5 mm)
Flash triggering
Trigger strobes through the built-in fiber-optic bulkheads using one of two optional triggers: a manual LED trigger (PN 26301) or a TTL flash trigger (PN 26321), paired with optional fiber-optic cables. For strobes that don't support fiber-optic triggering, a range of legacy hot-shoe flash control bulkheads is available.
Vacuum check and leak detection — standard
Nauticam's vacuum check and leak detection electronics ship with the NA-R5C as standard. Combined with the optional 25625 M16 Vacuum Valve II, the system continuously reports the housing's watertight, safe-to-dive status through a color-coded LED: solid vacuum, or vacuum loss. Leak detection runs on the same circuit, so any water intrusion triggers an audible and visual alarm.
The system is temperature-compensated, so it won't throw false alarms from a change in water temperature or from the camera heating up on an action-packed dive.
