The Nauticam 17440 NA-A7RV1 Underwater Housing
The 17440 NA-A7RV1 puts every key camera control right at your fingertips, all wrapped up in a tough, dependable aluminum housing. That easy, no-fuss control access is what Nauticam housings are known for, and the 17440 NA-A7RV1 keeps the tradition going — you'll make all your important camera adjustments right from the handles, no awkward reaching around.
It carries over the core design from Nauticam's pro DSLR range, just in a more compact package. A patented port locking lever means lens swaps take seconds, and the locking latches make popping the housing open for quick battery or media changes a breeze. Everything just works like a natural extension of your camera.
Mission Control
Never miss a shot hunting for a button or dial. Wherever a control happens to live on the camera, Nauticam's engineers have put it on the housing right where you actually need it. The essential dials and buttons sit within easy reach of the reinforced ergonomic handles. Up top, a dedicated lever lets you flip quickly between Still, Movie, and S&Q (VFR Video) modes. A dual thumb lever near the right handle fires the REC and AF-ON buttons, and a single lever near the left handle handles PLAYBACK.
Internal recording Capability
Records up to 8K at 30p and 4K up to 120p internally, all in 10-bit 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 depending on the frame rate.
Do You Need an External Recorder?
- RAW Output: The sony A7RV1 can output a 16-bit RAW video signal over HDMI, which can then be recorded as RAW on an external device.
- However, standard internal recording handles all standard Log profiles and bitrates perfectly
HDMI 2.0
There's a large-bore M24 bulkhead up front for HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 1.4 (with a step-down adapter to M16) external monitors and recorders. An extra M10 threaded mounting spot near the front center of the housing makes running an external monitor even easier. The a7R V1 can output 16-bit RAW video to external recorders at up to 4K 60p. Premium Professional Optics
Built around the N100 Port System for Sony E-Mount, the 17440 NA-A7RV1 supports a wide range of native lenses with a selection of Optical Glass and Acrylic ports. Pair it with an E-Mount to EF-mount lens adapter and an N100 to N120 adapter (see the Resources sidebar for supported adapters), and you can run the Canon N120 EF-Mount port system too — opening up the system even further. And if you want to go beyond conventional optics, the 17440 NA-A7RV1 taps into the unmatched quality of Nauticam's Water Contact optics like the WACP-1 or WWL-1B, giving you up to 130° field of view, full zoom-through, and an almost 0" minimum focus distance with supported lenses. For macro, the SMC-1 and SMC-2 bring tack-sharp super-macro magnification up to 4x with the Sony 90mm macro lens.
Vacuum Check and Leak Detection
The housing comes with the electronics for Nauticam's Vacuum Check and Leak Detection system pre-installed — all you need is the optional M14 Vacuum Valve (25624). It keeps you constantly posted on whether your housing is watertight and good to dive. A simple color-coded LED keeps you in the loop — solid vacuum, or losing it. Leak detection lives on the same circuit, so if any water sneaks in, you'll get both a sound and a visual warning. And since it's temperature compensated, you won't get false alarms just because the water cooled off or your camera heated up during an action-packed dive.
Strobe Triggering
You can fire external strobes through the integrated fiber-optic bulkheads using the optional Mini Flash Trigger for Sony (26302). Prefer electronic triggering? That's available too, via an optional Nikonos or Ikelite-style bulkhead.
